Pilot Jed visits Preschool Two

On Thursday 31st March Preschool Two was treated to another special visitor, Pilot Jed from Life Flight New Zealand. This was a great opportunity for the children to hear all about flying planes and specifically Pilot Jed's job flying sick children from all over the country to StarShip hospital.

We started the visit with Ruby and Spencer proudly asking some very important question

"Who do you work for?"
"What do you have to wear?"
"How long have you been flying?"
"How high do you fly?"
"Do you have a badge?"
"What do you so if there is a fire?"

As the children all listened intently, everyone gained new knowledge and gained greater understanding of the role of a pilot. We then got to explore some of the fun resources Pilot Jed had brought along, his headset, a model airplane and some special toys he has on his plane to help cheer up the sick children he has as passengers.

It was then time for Pilot Jed to check out some of our resources, such as our Airplane cockpit. Pilot Jed was very impressed with our creation and informed us we had all the correct equipment and what each of the instruments were used for.

Once we had all explored these fun resources, Pilot Jed gave us some great materials so we to could be a pilot. Our very own pilot stripes for our shoulders, Life Flight NZ stickers, Bag tags to write our names on, our very own Pilot licences and a Life Flight Airplane soft toy for the room.

What a great experience for everyone we all learnt so much and it has been a great support to our ongoing interest in Airplanes. Thank you to Ava for sharing her Uncle with us, and to Pilot Jed for taking the time to share his job and knowledge with us.
