Spinach from our Garden

Last week we got very excited about being able to harvest the first spinach from our garden. Sam helped me pick a whole bowl of spinach which we then gave to Cherie (our chef) to make us yummy (spinach) Brownies.
To make sure everyone knew how spinach tastes, I decided with a group of children to pick some more of the spinach, wash it and then eat it. Nadja, Sarah, Cameron, Patrick, Amelia and Anita liked it so much that they asked me if they could pick another leave. I agreed and so they all went back to the garden to get some more. Only Sam was unsure if he liked it or not. But the next day when we got the (spinach) Brownies from Cherie, all the children loved it and even asked for some more.
What a great learning it as been for the children to be able to plant, water, grow, look after and then harvest and eat the spinach and other fruits and vegetables in our garden.
All the children were very engaged in this experience and you can hear in the slide show how much they enjoyed harvesting and eating the spinach.
